Working with The Crown Estate, it has been decided that local and frequent users of the car park at Portland Bill, would be eligible to pay less for their parking. The way to do this is using MyCarPass.

We have put the process below for you, but most importantly, this is open for local users in a DT5 postcode.

Your permit, once approved, is set to renew each month to help ensure you do not get a parking charge by mistake. Due to this you will need to register your card on the site and it will be used to take your renewal payment when your monthly permit renews.

If you are not happy doing this, you may just register a monthly permit where you will need to remember to come back and renew it each time - if you forget and a parking charge is issued, we will not be able to help.

To apply for a permit to park at the Portland bill Car Park, you are required to register an account with us, which will allow you to apply for a parking permit.

When you register please use your preferred email address as this will be the username you will use to login in future.

When you register, an email will be sent to you to confirm you can access the email address. You will need to confirm this before you are able to apply for a permit. Please check your spam/junk email box if you have not received this within 5 minutes of registering.

When you first register, you will be required to let us know your address, and to build your 'garage' of vehicles that you can choose from for your permit. You will also need to register a payment card which uses 'Stripe' - this helps you pay each month automatically as your permit renews

You will be required to keep your address and vehicles up to date - if you don't, you could end up with a parking charge.

Please ensure you choose the correct permit for the car park, as mistakes will mean you may receive a parking charge as you are not registered for that area. 

There are currently 2 permits to choose from, a permit for CARS, and a permit for LARGE VEHICLES. The CAR permit allows you to park in the main car park only, and the LARGE VEHICLE permit allows you to park in the Large Vehicle car park only.

Although approving automaticaly when you first apply for your permit, all permit applications are verified by staff after the fact so please take care with your submission.

It is important to do all we can for sustainability so we are not using physcal permits. This system allows the use of electronic, rather than physical permits, and it directly integrates with the back office system used with the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, payments machines, and app payments on site.

You do not need to display a permit to park.

Once you have a permit approved, you will need to keep your details up to date. This includes:

• If you change the vehicle you will be using, you will need to come back here and change the vehicle details on the system.
• If you change your address, you will need to come back here and change your address on the system.
• If you change your name, you will need to come back here and change your name on the system.
• When your permit is set to expire, you will need to come back here and purchase a new permit for the next month.
• If your permit expires and you do not wish to purchase another permit, but do use the car park again, you will just need to pay at the machines onsite, or use the advertised app.
